MicroWash

Problem:

Since I've been in college I have a hard time finding spare time to do laundry before my classes and practices. It's not that i dislike doing laundry, it's just that it takes so long to do. You have to wash the clothes for a half hour then wait til a dryer becomes open for use and wait another hour for the laundry to finish. That straight hour and a half to wait is hard to find through out the day. The biggest issue I find is that sometimes you might only have to do a load of socks, and it still requires all that time. That's why MicroWash is the hot new item when it comes to getting your clothes ready to wear, at a quick pace..

Idea Generation:

Finding time to do laundry is something I have to schedule into my day. It's quite an inconvenience so I thought when dinner might take a while to cook, i make it in the microwave. Why can't we have a product that is the microwave equivalent to the washer and dryer. That's where my idea for the MicroWash came in. It is a small Washer and Dryer that is able to be put in dorm rooms and apartments.

Idea Screening:

I find there will be a high demand for this product. College students everywhere have to do laundry so marketing this product towards colleges and universities will help in the selling of the MicroWash. Placement of this product in stores selling mini-refrigeraters and microwaves will help sell the product.

Business Analysis:

Demand and Benefit- College students looking for a quick wash and dry of clothing. Very beneficial for socks and under-garments, that typically need to be washed more frequently than other clothing.

Risk – Not used as a main source of cleaning clothes. Can not put more than one towel or pair of jeans in at a time. Laundry loads of small portions works the best. Requires electric to run, so can be costly on electric bills.

The product is about the size of a mini-fridge with the top opening up for the wash area, on the front of the MicroWash is the dryer area. Holds roughly 12 pairs of socks, five undershirts or underwear, two shirts, one towel or one pair of pants. MicroWash runs from power from an electrical outlet, and washer section runs when three gallons on water are added. Washing load takes ten minutes and dryer load fifteen minutes.
